Ansu Fati is set to remain at Monaco after the Ligue 1 club agreed a permanent deal with Barcelona for the Spanish forward.

The transfer is worth €11 million, with Barcelona retaining a sell-on clause. It brings Fati's time at the Catalan club to an end after a season on loan in France.

Monaco make Fati's move permanent

Fati joined Monaco on loan last summer with an option to buy included in the agreement. AS reports that the 23-year-old will now continue in the principality after the clubs completed the permanent transfer.

The move gives Fati continuity after a period in which injuries and competition for places made it difficult for him to establish a consistent role at Barcelona.

Barcelona close a long chapter

Fati emerged from Barcelona's academy and was once viewed as one of the club's most exciting young players. He made 123 appearances and scored 29 goals for the first team, with a separate loan spell at Brighton also forming part of his journey away from Camp Nou.

Monaco now offer him the chance to build on his season in Ligue 1. For Barcelona, the €11m fee and future sell-on clause provide an immediate return while keeping a stake in any later move.
