Bruno Fernandes has broken his silence on speculation linking him with a move away from Manchester United, insisting he made a deliberate choice to stay at Old Trafford. The Portuguese captain says he never seriously entertained leaving.

"There were conversations, yes," Fernandes admitted. "But for me it was never really a question. I came here and gave everything I had. I was not going to walk away when things got hard."

A Season of Turbulence

This season has not been easy for United. A difficult run of results, injuries and a managerial transition have tested everyone. Fernandes, as captain, has been at the eye of the storm. His numbers have remained solid: eight Premier League goals and twelve assists in a team that has struggled for consistency.

The Captain's Responsibility

Fernandes says the captaincy played a big part in his decision to stay. "When you are the captain, you do not just lead when it is easy," he said. "You lead when it is hard. If I leave every time it gets difficult, what does that teach the younger lads?"

What the Club Needs Now

United are 12th in the Premier League. Recruitment this summer will be critical. Fernandes knows it: "We need to be better. I need to be better. But there are good players here. We need time and the right additions."

Looking Ahead

Fernandes turns 31 in September. Choosing to stay at a club in rebuild mode rather than chasing trophies elsewhere says something real about his character. Whether United can reward that loyalty next season is the big question — but with their captain still fighting, at least they have a foundation.
