West Ham United delivered their most complete Premier League performance of the season on Saturday, crushing Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at the London Stadium to lift spirits after a difficult mid-season period. Four goals, a clean sheet, and a margin of victory that flattered neither side — Wolves were simply blown away by a home side playing with a confidence and clarity that has been absent for too long.

For Graham Potter, who has spent much of his West Ham tenure managing expectation and trying to find a consistent system from a squad that arrived in varying states of fitness and cohesion, this was the kind of performance that makes everything else feel worthwhile. For Wolves, it was another demoralising afternoon in a season that has veered dangerously close to a relegation fight they still cannot fully rule out.

Hammers Hit Four

West Ham's attacking fluency was the story of the afternoon. Four different scorers, goals in each half, and a home crowd that fed off every moment. Jarrod Bowen was instrumental throughout — the winger's directness and willingness to run in behind stretched Wolves repeatedly. His role in the first and third goals illustrated exactly why he remains one of the most dangerous wide players in the Premier League on his day.

Michail Antonio, restored to the starting XI after a run of appearances from the bench, scored his first league goal since October — a moment that drew a roar from the home faithful and seemed to visibly lift a player who has had a difficult personal year following his serious road accident. His finish — a classic near-post header from a Bowen cross — was instinctive and joyful.

Wolves' Struggles Continue

Wolverhampton's form makes for grim reading. They have now conceded twelve goals in their last four away matches and created almost nothing in this fixture. Gary O'Neil's squad is short on confidence, short on quality in key positions, and carrying a level of defensive fragility that has been ruthlessly exposed by teams with any real attacking intent.

The early stages of this match offered brief hope — Wolves started with energy and had a couple of promising moments inside the first fifteen minutes. But West Ham's first goal, arriving on 22 minutes, seemed to deflate the visitors entirely. There was no fight-back, no tactical adjustment that created problems for the Hammers, no real sign of what Wolves need to do to escape the lower reaches of the table.

Mavropanos the Defensive Anchor

At the back, Konstantinos Mavropanos produced one of his better displays in a West Ham shirt — dominant in the air, composed on the ball, and authoritative whenever Wolves' forward line attempted to threaten. The Greek centre-back's partnership with Kurt Zouma has improved markedly in recent weeks, and on this evidence, it is functioning as a genuine Premier League pairing rather than simply a stopgap arrangement.

Potter's Progress

West Ham remain in the bottom half, but this result — their third win in four — suggests the trajectory has changed. Potter's patient approach has drawn criticism from those who wanted immediate results, but the improvement in structure and collective understanding is visible to anyone watching the team closely. A run into the top half before the season ends is not out of the question.
