PSG Want Martinelli, Arsenal Are Open to Selling, and the Player Wants to Stay: How This Gets Resolved

Gabriel Martinelli wants to stay at Arsenal. PSG, however, want him badly enough to have already sat down with his representatives. And Arsenal, according to multiple reports, are open to selling. Something is going to give here.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos held direct talks with Martinelli's camp earlier this month. The Brazilian is understood to be valued at around £50 million, though Arsenal could push for closer to €60 million given his contract runs until 2027 with an option year.

Arsenal's complicated position

The strange thing about this story is that Arsenal appear more willing to sell than the player is to leave. Martinelli has given no public indication he wants out of north London. At 23, he is in the early peak years of his career. But FootballTransfers argued this week the club must sell Martinelli to fund improvements in other areas. Gabriel Jesus is also linked with an exit.

What PSG are offering

PSG need more firepower for their next Champions League push. Martinelli fits multiple boxes — quick, direct, comfortable on either flank, and Brazilian. Luis Campos has already met the player's representatives. That is not casual interest — PSG are serious and moving early.

The Arsenal dilemma

If Martinelli leaves, Arsenal lose one of their most consistent performers over the past two seasons. If they fight to keep him, other transfer targets get sacrificed. Arteta built this team around direct running and intensity that Martinelli embodies. No obvious like-for-like exists at £50 million. Nothing is done yet — but PSG have started the clock, Arsenal have left the door open, and the player's wishes may end up being the least decisive factor.
