Norwich sign Makama from Lincoln for £1.2m

NORWICH SIGN MAKAMA! CANARIES COMPLETE £1.2M DEAL FOR LINCOLN CITY STRIKER

Norwich City have completed the signing of Jovon Makama from Lincoln City in a deal worth £1.2 million, marking a significant addition to the Championship side’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old striker has signed a three-year contract at Carrow Road, with the club holding an option to extend the deal for a further two years. The move represents a record sale for Lincoln City, surpassing the fee they received for midfielder Ethan Erhahon earlier this summer.

Makama’s arrival is a key part of new head coach Liam Manning’s rebuilding project, following the high-profile exits of forwards Borja Sainz and Jonathan Rowe, who left for Porto and Marseille respectively. Manning is reshaping his squad with youth and energy, and Makama’s profile fits that vision.

A product of Derby County’s youth system, Makama moved to Lincoln in 2020 and has steadily progressed through the ranks. He made his first-team debut at the age of 18 and went on to score 15 goals in 97 appearances for the Imps. He also gained valuable senior experience through loan spells at Gainsborough Trinity and Brackley Town in non-league football.

Although Makama was left out of Lincoln’s squad for their opening-day win over Reading, his absence was due to ongoing transfer talks that have now successfully concluded. The young striker is expected to add pace, physicality, and a direct threat in the final third as Norwich aim to improve on last season’s mid-table finish.

Norwich will kick off their Championship campaign with a home match against Millwall on Saturday, 9 August, where Makama could be in line to make his debut in front of the Carrow Road faithful.
