Bristol City's home form has now turned into a real problem. Norwich City won 5-0 at Ashton Gate on Saturday, their fourth win in a row, and sent the home fans away angry and booing. It was the Robins' sixth Championship home defeat of the season and their fourth in a row at Ashton Gate.
Maghoma leads the way
Paris Maghoma was the difference. He scored for the fourth match running, opening the score in the 22nd minute when Sam Field won the ball in the final third, the Robins stood off, and Maghoma ran into the box to finish right-footed into the far bottom corner. Later he crossed for Andre Brooks to score the third. The BBC's readers made him player of the match.
Bristol City had their moments before the break. Top scorer Scott Twine shot straight at goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw from three yards out after a flick-on from Lisav Eissat, and Rio Cardines, on loan from Crystal Palace, put a shot into the side netting from a tight angle.
The collapse after half-time
The second half is where it fell apart. Bristol City tried and failed to clear a corner three times, and Harry Darling scored with a looping header in the 53rd minute. Three minutes later Maghoma's cross was deflected to Brooks, who shot home, and the booing began.
Substitute Jovon Makama made it four in the 70th minute. Anthony Musaba crossed back across goal and Makama fired in with his first touch after coming on. Mathias Kvistgaarden completed the rout on 80 minutes, scoring from the penalty spot after Eissat needlessly dragged him down in the box.
Pressure on Skubala
Bristol City have scored only four league home goals all season, and they were denied even a consolation in stoppage time when Darling raced back to clear Dom Ballard's effort off the line. That statistic tells the story of a team that cannot score at home and cannot defend a corner.
For manager Michael Skubala, going into the international break after a result like this is uncomfortable. Norwich, meanwhile, have won four straight and have a forward in form.
