Ramos Linked With Getafe Return - Monday's Football Gossip

Sergio Ramos is 40 years old, out of contract and, if the Spanish press are right, thinking about Madrid again. Sport report that Getafe are weighing up a move for the former Real Madrid and Spain captain, who is a free agent and could therefore be signed outside a transfer window. It would put him back in the city where he won most of what he won, at a club with rather different ambitions.

Whether it happens is another matter. Ramos has spent the back end of his career taking offers that surprised people, so nobody should treat a Getafe link as implausible on reputation alone.

Bournemouth brace for the Alex Scott bidding

Football Insider say Bournemouth would want more than 100m pounds for Alex Scott, the 23-year-old England-born midfielder who has become the player opposing managers talk about after games. Chelsea and Liverpool are both said to be interested. Bournemouth have a recent history of selling late and selling high, and a nine-figure asking price is the clearest signal yet that they intend to do neither cheaply nor early.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are hearing about one of their own. CaughtOffside report that Florian Wirtz has no intention of leaving Anfield despite suggestions of interest from Chelsea, where Xabi Alonso, his former boss at Bayer Leverkusen, is now in charge. That reunion story will keep coming back as long as both men stay where they are.

Tottenham and Newcastle shop in Germany

Tottenham continue to monitor Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib, 23, according to TeamTalk, and Fussball News, via CaughtOffside, add Freiburg's Japanese midfielder Yuito Suzuki, 24, to Roberto de Zerbi's list. Newcastle have been tracking David Otorbi, the 19-year-old Valencia midfielder, Marca say.

The pattern across those three is familiar enough. Clubs in the Premier League's middle-to-upper tier are looking for players in their early twenties at Bundesliga and La Liga sides, where the fee is lower and the development work has already been done by somebody else.

Barcelona's young defenders attract company

Ekrem Konur reports that Barcelona are watching Benfica's 18-year-old defender Daniel Banjaqui, with Newcastle and Manchester United also interested. Sport say Barcelona and Real Madrid are both looking at Stuttgart's Finn Jeltsch, 20, and that Liverpool are keeping an eye on the German too.

Going the other way, Arsenal and Tottenham are said by CaughtOffside to be interested in Barcelona youngster Xavi Espart, 19, although the Spanish defender's release clause is large enough to cool most approaches before they start.

Transfer context: Sergio Ramos, 40, is a free agent and linked with Getafe (Sport). Bournemouth could demand more than 100m pounds for Alex Scott, 23, with Chelsea and Liverpool interested (Football Insider). Florian Wirtz, 23, intends to stay at Liverpool (CaughtOffside). All items are newspaper and website reports rather than confirmed deals.
