Manchester United are targeting Lewis Hall as their next summer signing following the confirmation of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, according to David Ornstein at The Athletic. The 20-year-old Newcastle United left-back has emerged as INEOS priority to bolster the defensive options available to manager Ruben Amorim, who has previously expressed interest in playing with attacking wing-backs.

Why Hall?

Hall made 38 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions last season and was one of Eddie Howe's most consistent performers. At 20, he fits the profile INEOS has established this summer: young, English, with significant resale value. He is comfortable pushing forward, can cross from deep, and has the technical quality to play in Amorim's system which requires full-backs who can invert or overlap depending on the shape.

Newcastle's Stance

Newcastle are under no obligation to sell. Hall has two years remaining on his contract after last summer's extension, and the club are not actively looking to move him on. But United are expected to test their resolve with an opening bid in the region of GBP 30-35 million. Whether Newcastle engage will depend on whether Hall himself pushes for the move.

Amorim's Left-Back Problem

Diogo Dalot has been used at left wing-back under Amorim, which has felt like a stop-gap solution. Luke Shaw remains injury-prone and is entering the final year of his deal. Bringing in a natural left-footer with pace and energy would give United genuine depth and competition in that corridor for the first time in years.
