AC Milan have broken their own transfer record for the second time in their history, completing the signing of Portugal international Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €74 million (approximately £62 million). The 25-year-old striker joins on a five-year contract through to June 2031 and becomes the first major statement of the new Ruben Amorim era at the San Siro.
The deal surpasses Milan's previous record transfer — the €49.5 million paid for Rafael Leão from Lille in 2019 — and underscores the level of ambition the club is operating with under Amorim, who was brought in from Manchester United in the summer following a difficult spell in English football.

Ramos at PSG — Why He Left
Ramos had arrived at PSG from Benfica in 2023 and spent two seasons in Paris, scoring at a respectable rate but never quite establishing himself as the undisputed first choice in a squad packed with stars competing for the same roles. His time in France was productive rather than spectacular, and by the time Amorim came calling it was clear that a fresh start at a club where he would be the main man was what he needed.
At AC Milan, that opportunity is very much on offer. With the club seeking to mount a title challenge in Serie A after finishing fifth last season under the outgoing Allegri, Amorim has promised an attacking, pressing style of play that should suit Ramos perfectly.

The fee attached to this deal — and the fact that it represents a club record — means the spotlight will be on Ramos from day one. Milan fans have not forgotten the impact of Olivier Giroud or Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the striker role in recent years, and expectations are high for anyone asked to fill that shirt with the number nine on their back.
