Manchester United have completed one of the summer's most important midfield signings, triggering Youri Tielemans' £35 million release clause to bring the Belgium captain to Old Trafford on a five-year deal. Fabrizio Romano confirmed it as "done" on Tuesday, with the 29-year-old already in Manchester ahead of his medical.
A Dream Move, His Words
Tielemans reportedly chose United over significant Saudi Pro League interest, calling the move to Old Trafford his "dream." He currently captains Belgium at the 2026 World Cup — and that leadership profile was exactly what INEOS wanted when they triggered the clause.
Trophies, Experience, Quality
This is a player who has lifted the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021 and the Europa League with Aston Villa last season. He can pick a pass, carry under pressure, and score in big moments. United's midfield has been a weakness for years. Combined with already-confirmed Andrey Santos (combined spend ~£85m), the area is now properly reinforced.
