Manchester United spent most of October being linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. According to Caught Offside, they have now dropped that idea and asked a different question instead: what would it take to get Ivan Toney out of Saudi Arabia? The 30-year-old England striker is at Al-Ahli, and United are said to have enquired about whether he is available at all. Calvert-Lewin, 29 and at Leeds, is no longer on their list.

Barcelona look at Chelsea's teenager while their own man digs in

Sport in Spain report that Barcelona are watching Estevao Willian closely enough to be considering a move. The Brazil winger is 19, which makes this one of those stories that tends to get louder rather than quieter.

Traffic in the other direction looks less promising for the Premier League. Fabrizio Romano says Fermin Lopez has no interest in leaving Barcelona, despite both Manchester United and Chelsea having made their admiration clear. The Spain midfielder is 23 and was linked with United again only yesterday.

Liverpool clearing space, Palace running out of time on Mateta

The Echo expects two Liverpool squad players to be gone by next year. Wataru Endo, the 33-year-old Japan midfielder, and Federico Chiesa, the 29-year-old Italy winger, are both described as near-certain departures, which says something about how Andoni Iraola is shaping the squad he inherited.

Crystal Palace have a harder decision on their hands. Teamtalk report that Jean-Philippe Mateta is set to leave Selhurst Park in January, and Football Insider say the club have not settled on what to do about it. His contract runs out in the summer, so Palace can either take a fee in the winter window or keep a 29-year-old France striker for another five months and watch him walk away for nothing.

Arsenal keeping several lines open

Real Madrid have said publicly that Endrick is not leaving this season. Teamtalk say Arsenal have stayed in touch anyway. The Brazil forward is 20, and the Gunners are reported to be keeping an eye on two other players of the same age: Eli Junior Kroupi, the French forward at Bournemouth, and Can Uzun, the Turkey attacking midfielder at Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Caught Offside. Goal add that Paris St-Germain are among the clubs watching Kroupi, who has played for France Under-21s, so that one will not be straightforward.

Two more worth noting. Sport say JJ Gabriel, the 16-year-old forward on Manchester United's books, is close to joining Real Madrid. And Everton, who tried and failed to sign Folarin Balogun in the summer, will not be going back for the 25-year-old United States striker in January, per Football Insider.
