Bayern Munich were drawing 1-1 with newly promoted SV Elversberg on Sunday and looking every bit as awkward as that sentence suggests. Then Harry Kane got the ball in the box on 72 minutes, hit it early, and beat Nicolas Kristof at his near post. The win was 2-1. The number was 150.

One hundred and fifty goals for Bayern in 153 matches, in every competition, since he left Tottenham in August 2023. Three years and a bit. Strikers do not usually get to say that.

A Night That Needed Him

Bayern had gone ahead on 26 minutes through Lennart Karl, and even that goal had Kane's fingerprints on it. Ismael Saibari's low cross came off the England captain and ran to Karl, who tapped in at the back post.

Elversberg refused to accept the role assigned to them. Maurice Krattenmacher curled one into the top corner from the edge of the box on 61 minutes, a finish good enough to silence the ground for a moment, and for ten minutes Bayern had a genuine problem on their hands.

Kane solved it the way he has solved most of them since arriving in Bavaria. No build-up, no fuss, one touch and a shot the goalkeeper was not set for.

What 150 in 153 Actually Means

The ratio is the striking part. Almost a goal a game across three seasons, in a league where he arrived as a 30-year-old and in a squad that has changed around him more than once. Kane has adapted to a different style of pressing, a different tempo and a different set of midfielders, and the output has barely moved.

He also does far more than finish. The Karl goal is the small illustration: Kane in the six-yard box, occupying defenders, and the ball breaking to a teenager who had an empty net. Much of Bayern's attacking structure is built around a centre-forward who drops in and drags a back four out of shape.

The Next Number

Kane will not talk about milestones for long, but the ones ahead are worth noting. His Bundesliga tally is closing in on its own round figure, and at this rate the club's all-time lists start coming into view within a couple of seasons rather than a decade.

For a player who spent most of his career being told what he had not won, the last three years in Germany have quietly rewritten the whole argument.

Match facts: Bayern Munich 2-1 SV Elversberg, Sunday 13 September 2026. Scorers: Karl 26, Krattenmacher 61 (Elversberg), Kane 72. Harry Kane, 33, joined Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023 and has now scored 150 goals in 153 appearances in all competitions.
