Arsenal delivered one of the performances of their season on Saturday afternoon, dismantling Fulham 3-0 at the Emirates to open up a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. Viktor Gyokeres was the star of the show, scoring twice and setting up a goal, while Bukayo Saka added a third to complete what was a thoroughly professional and highly convincing victory. With Manchester City still to play their fixture and facing a tougher run of games in the final weeks, the Gunners have put themselves firmly in the driving seat of one of the most compelling title races English football has seen in years.

Gyokeres Delivers When It Matters Most

The Swedish striker has been a revelation since joining Arsenal in the summer, but Saturday was arguably the clearest evidence yet of what he can do on the biggest occasions. He opened the scoring after being picked out by Saka, before turning provider to tee up the England winger for the second. The brace came when he met a Leandro Trossard cross to head past Bernd Leno — the same goalkeeper he faced in his Sporting CP days. Gyokeres now sits on 21 goals in all competitions this season, making him the first Arsenal player to reach that total in their debut campaign since Alexis Sanchez a decade ago. For a player who cost significant investment, the return has been extraordinary.

Arsenal's Title Credentials on Display

What made the performance particularly impressive was the controlled, clinical nature of it. Fulham, who came into the match in decent form themselves, were given little time on the ball and were overwhelmed tactically by Mikel Arteta's high press. Arsenal did not allow Fulham to settle and punished every moment of hesitation or poor touch. The opening goal came early enough to visibly deflate the visiting side, and the second before half-time made the result effectively certain. This is what title-winning teams do — they take their chances, they limit opponents, and they make matches feel settled long before the final whistle.

What This Means for the Run-In

Arsenal now have a six-point cushion over Manchester City with a game in hand and three matches remaining — against West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace. On paper, it is a more manageable run-in than the one City face, with Everton, Brentford, Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa still to navigate. The pressure has shifted entirely to the blue half of Manchester. One slip from City would almost certainly hand Arsenal the title regardless of their own results. The Gunners, by contrast, simply need to keep winning — and on Saturday's evidence, there is very little reason to believe they will not.
