Arsenal vs Man City: The Premier League Title Race Enters Its Final, Breathless Chapter

The Title Race Is Beautiful, and It Is Terrifying

With three games of the Premier League season remaining, Arsenal and Manchester City are level on points, level on goal difference, and separated only by the number of goals scored — City lead on that metric by three, 66 to Arsenal's 63. If the season ended right now, Pep Guardiola would lift the trophy. It has not ended. And that is the thing about the Premier League. It never does you the courtesy of being simple.

Arsenal's Run-In

The good news for Arsenal is that their final three opponents — Brentford, Burnley and Sheffield United — are currently sitting in the bottom half of the table. Teams the Gunners have already beaten this season, in each case convincingly. Mikel Arteta's squad has the quality to take nine points. Whether they have the nerve is a different question.

Arsenal have been here before. They led City by eight points in March 2023 and capitulated. They were ahead going into the final weeks in 2024 and again fell short. Those scars run deep. But this squad is older, more experienced, and hardened by those very failures. Arteta himself has spoken this week about trusting the process and believing in what the players have built. He is not trying to be clever about it. He is telling them to go and win three games.

City's Run-In

Manchester City finish the season at home to Bournemouth, away to Aston Villa, and at home to Brentford. On paper it is equally manageable. But City have shown signs of fatigue since their heavy defeat to PSG in the Champions League group stage exit in March. Erling Haaland has been carrying a minor ankle issue that limited him at the weekend, and Phil Foden has been inconsistent in a way that was unthinkable eighteen months ago.

The equation is simple. Arsenal win three games, and the title is theirs regardless of what City do. The players know. The city knows. Arteta knows. Three games. Nine points. That is the only number that matters at the Emirates Stadium right now.

Title race standings (35 games): Manchester City 79pts (GD +37, GF 66) | Arsenal 79pts (GD +37, GF 63) | Remaining Arsenal fixtures: vs Brentford (H), vs Burnley (H), at Sheffield United (A)
