Ruben Dias signs contract extension with Manchester City, keeping him at the club until 2029

DIAS COMMITS FUTURE TO MANCHESTER CITY WITH NEW LONG-TERM DEAL

Manchester City have confirmed that Portugal international Rúben Dias has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract, extending his stay at the Etihad until 2029.

The 27-year-old centre-back has been a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola’s side since his £65m arrival from Benfica in 2020. In just five years, he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dominant defenders, collecting four league titles, the Champions League, an FA Cup, and an EFL Cup along the way.

Dias made an immediate impact in his debut season, winning the Premier League Player of the Year award, and has since become both a leader in City’s backline and a fan favourite for his consistency and commanding presence.

Reflecting on the new deal, Dias said:

"I am incredibly happy today. I love Manchester – it feels like home – and I love the Manchester City fans. When I think about the trophies we have won and the way we have played our football during my time here, I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else."

The extension secures Dias’ future at City for the peak years of his career, reinforcing the club’s ambition to continue dominating both domestically and in Europe.
