ARSENAL COMPLETE SIGNING OF CRYSTAL PALACE STAR EBERECHI EZE
Arsenal have completed the signing of Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze in a deal worth £60m, including performance-related add-ons, making him the club’s seventh arrival of the summer window.
The 27-year-old had been heavily linked with Tottenham, who reached an agreement with both Palace and the player earlier in the window. However, Arsenal entered the race late and swiftly turned the tide, convincing Eze to return to the club where he spent part of his youth development.
Eze, who grew up supporting Arsenal, was unveiled at the Emirates Stadium before the clash with Leeds. Dressed casually in an Arsenal shirt and jeans, he was met with loud cheers from supporters who welcomed him back to north London.
Sporting director Andrea Berta praised the addition, describing Eze as “an explosive and imaginative footballer with the technical quality to unlock any defence.”
Manager Mikel Arteta was equally enthusiastic about the signing, highlighting both his ability and his character:
"Eberechi brings something unique to our attack with his creativity, power and versatility. What impresses me most is not only his talent, but also the resilience and mentality he has shown to reach this level. His journey, his ambition, and his deep connection to this club make him an ideal addition to our squad.”
Eze arrives at Arsenal after four standout years with Crystal Palace, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking midfielders. His dribbling, vision and composure in front of goal earned him recognition at international level, as he became a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England squads.
For Arsenal, the signing represents more than just a new attacking option. It is a symbolic statement — edging out rivals Tottenham to secure a player who grew up dreaming of wearing the red and white.
