Chelsea exploring move for United winger Garnacho

CHELSEA TARGET GARNACHO! BLUES OPEN TALKS WITH MAN UTD OVER ARGENTINA WINGER

Chelsea are in active discussions with Manchester United over a potential move for Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The 21-year-old has been told he is free to leave Old Trafford this summer, with head coach Ruben Amorim believing the player is seeking a fresh start elsewhere.

Garnacho was close to sealing a switch to Stamford Bridge in January, and although the deal fell through at the time, both sides have maintained contact throughout the summer. Interest from Chelsea has now intensified, though no final agreement has been reached yet.

The winger, who joined United from Atlético Madrid at age 16, qualifies as a homegrown player — a key factor in any potential transfer given Premier League profit and sustainability regulations. United had originally placed a £60 million valuation on Garnacho, but it's unclear whether they can secure that full figure in the current window.

Tensions between Garnacho and Amorim surfaced after United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May. The manager reportedly advised the player to seek opportunities elsewhere. Although Garnacho travelled with the squad for their post-season Asia tour, he appeared isolated and frustrated.

He was left out of United’s recent pre-season trip to the United States and was instead told to train separately from the main group, alongside other sidelined players including Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford — the latter now on loan at Barcelona.

Speaking about Garnacho last week in Chicago, Amorim acknowledged the situation:

"He’s a talented player, no doubt. But sometimes, even with talent, the connection isn't there. I believe Garnacho is looking for something new — a different style of leadership, perhaps. That’s completely understandable in football.”

Chelsea remain keen, but negotiations are ongoing and could hinge on United adjusting their asking price.
