Premier League Transfer Window 2026 Opens: Who Is Spending, Who Is Selling, and What to Watch

The Premier League summer transfer window opened officially on June 15, and clubs did not waste any time. With the World Cup providing the perfect backdrop for players to showcase themselves, agents are already working the phones and scouts are filing reports from stadiums across the USA, Canada and Mexico. Here is everything you need to know about what is happening in the 2026 window.

Arsenal — Going for the Title Defence

Arsenal's priority is adding firepower in attack, and Julián Álvarez is the name at the top of their list. As Premier League champions with the financial muscle to compete at the highest level, Mikel Arteta's side are well-positioned to make a statement signing. Left wing and central midfield are also areas being targeted. Expect the Gunners to be busy throughout the window.

Brighton — Building Intelligently as Always

Brighton have already completed one signing, with Zadok Yohanna arriving from AIK in Sweden. The Swedish winger, who has been turning heads in Scandinavia for two seasons, arrives as a player-for-the-future rather than an immediate first-team starter. Brighton's recruitment remains the Premier League's smartest — and this window looks set to continue that trend.

Brentford — Schuster Adds Defensive Depth

Brentford's opening signing tells you everything about their window philosophy. Jannik Schuster, a young German centre-back from Red Bull Salzburg, arrives as a long-term investment. Brentford do not overspend. They identify value, develop it, and sell it at a profit. Schuster has the profile to become a significant asset over the next three to five years.

Liverpool — Turmoil and Opportunity

After the emotional farewells of the Salah era and a coaching reshuffle, Liverpool enter this window needing clarity. Cody Gakpo has made it known he wants to leave, creating a gap in their attacking options. The Reds will need to both sell and reinvest smartly to ensure they remain competitive at the top of the Premier League next season.

Tottenham — Senesi Arrival Strengthens the Back Line

Spurs have moved quickly to secure Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth on a free transfer. The Argentine centre-back was one of the Premier League's most consistent defenders last season, and at no transfer cost he represents outstanding business. Tottenham are evidently determined to shore up a defensive unit that cost them points throughout 2025-26.

Deadline Day: September 1, 2026

The window closes at 11pm UK time on September 1. That leaves clubs with nearly three months to conduct their business, but experience tells us that the best signings come early. Clubs that know what they want — and move decisively — tend to win the window. Clubs that wait for others to make the first move often end up paying over the odds for second choices.

With the World Cup running through July, this summer could produce some of the biggest transfers in years. Star players performing on the global stage always attract attention. Stay tuned — this window is going to be very busy.
