PRESTON SIGN ASTON VILLA FORWARD LEWIS DOBBIN ON LOAN
Preston North End have secured the loan signing of 22-year-old forward Lewis Dobbin, who joins from his Premier League parent club in search of regular first-team football.
Dobbin, who came through the youth ranks at Everton before making the switch to his current club in the summer of 2024, has yet to make a senior appearance for them. To aid his development, he spent last season out on loan with West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City. While his time with the Baggies was short-lived, he made more of an impression at Carrow Road, scoring twice in 10 Championship appearances during the second half of the campaign.
Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom expressed his delight at landing the highly rated attacker:
"We’ve been monitoring Lewis for some time, and what stands out is not only his ability but also his hunger to improve. From speaking with him, it’s clear he’s excited about the project here, and I’m confident he’ll give us another dimension in attack."
Dobbin himself admitted that the chance to work under Heckingbottom and play regular football were key factors in his decision.
"The call with the manager really sold it to me," he said. "This feels like the perfect platform to perform, to learn, and to grow as a player and as a person. I’m excited to show the fans what I can bring."
Preston have enjoyed a solid start to the new Championship season, picking up four points from their opening two matches, and will look to build momentum when they face Ipswich Town at Deepdale on Saturday.
For Dobbin, the move represents an important step in his career—a chance to translate potential into consistent performances and stake a claim for a long-term future at the top level. With his pace, direct running, and attacking instinct, the 22-year-old will be aiming to make an immediate impact in Lancashire.
