West Brom sign Bournemouth defender Mepham

WEST BROM SIGN BOURNEMOUTH DEFENDER CHRIS MEPHAM ON THREE-YEAR DEAL

The 27-year-old becomes Albion’s sixth new arrival of the summer and adds significant top-flight and Championship experience to Ryan Mason’s squad. Mepham, who made over 100 appearances for the Cherries after joining in 2019, spent last season on loan at Sunderland, where he played a vital role in the Black Cats’ promotion campaign, culminating in their play-off triumph.

He now links up with fellow summer additions Toby Collyer, Krystian Bielik, George Campbell, Aune Heggebo and Nat Phillips as Albion continue a major rebuild under their new head coach.

Albion sporting director Andrew Nestor welcomed the signing, highlighting Mepham’s pedigree:
"Chris brings proven quality and invaluable experience from both the Premier League and Championship. At 27, he is entering the peak years of his career and will add stability and leadership to our defensive unit, which now has a strong blend of seasoned professionals and developing players."

The transfer also comes amid changes elsewhere in the squad, with right-back Darnell Furlong poised to complete a move to Ipswich Town and academy product Tom Fellows attracting interest from Southampton.
