NOTTINGHAM FOREST SIGN BRAZILIAN GOALKEEPER JOHN VICTOR FROM BOTAFOGO
The 29-year-old becomes the latest addition to Nuno EspÃrito Santo’s squad, joining to provide further strength in depth between the posts. Forest had already brought in Scotland international Angus Gunn earlier this summer, but Nuno was keen to add another senior option alongside Matz Sels and promising youngster Aaron Bott.
Victor, who came through the ranks at Santos, also spent time on loan at Spanish side Real Valladolid before establishing himself in Brazil. His steady rise and consistent performances attracted attention across Europe, with Forest moving quickly to secure his signature.
Chief football officer Ross Wilson welcomed the signing, saying the goalkeeper arrives with hunger and ambition:
"John has been performing at a very high level in Brazil and it’s no surprise he drew interest from clubs elsewhere. We’re delighted he’s chosen Forest. With Matz, Angus and Aaron already here, he joins a strong unit that will drive each other forward."
Victor’s arrival continues Forest’s recruitment push in South America. The club is expected to complete a deal for Botafogo left-back Cuiabano in the coming days, having already signed striker Igor Jesus and defender Jair Cunha from the same club earlier in the window in a combined £20m move.
