LIVERPOOL DEFENDER KOSTAS TSIMIKAS JOINS ROMA ON SEASON-LONG LOAN
The 29-year-old has not played a single minute in the current campaign and was eager to secure more regular action.
Signed from Olympiakos in 2020 for £11.7m, Tsimikas made 115 appearances in red and enjoyed several high points — none more memorable than his ice-cool winning penalty in the 2022 FA Cup final against Chelsea. He also lifted the Carabao Cup twice and was part of the squad that celebrated Liverpool’s most recent Premier League triumph.
However, breaking into the starting XI on a consistent basis proved difficult. His last league outing came in May during the 3-2 defeat to Brighton, just before Liverpool clinched the title.
The switch to Italy now offers the Greek defender the platform to play week in, week out and re-establish himself ahead of a pivotal stage in his career.
