CHELSEA KEEPER DJORDJE PETROVIC TO JOIN BOURNEMOUTH IN £25M DEAL AS CLUBS AGREE FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT
Djordje Petrovic is on the verge of completing a £25 million move to Bournemouth, with a five-year contract nearly finalized following a total agreement between the two clubs. The transfer marks a significant change in goalkeeping personnel for both sides, as Petrovic prepares to take on a starting role on the south coast.
The 25-year-old Serbian international made a strong impression during his time at Stamford Bridge, stepping up impressively in the absence of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Robert Sánchez. However, with Kepa now sold to Arsenal and Chelsea undergoing a wider squad reshuffle, Petrovic has been given the green light to seek regular first-team football elsewhere.
Bournemouth accelerated negotiations earlier this week after identifying Petrovic as their primary target to fill the void left by Kepa's brief return and immediate departure. With their goalkeeping department in need of stability, the Cherries moved quickly to secure a long-term solution.
Petrovic is expected to undergo his medical in the coming days, with personal terms already agreed in principle. The deal will make him one of Bournemouth’s most expensive signings and solidifies the club’s intent to push for a stronger finish in the Premier League this season.
For Chelsea, the sale represents a tidy profit and clears the way for a new incoming goalkeeper, while also streamlining the squad ahead of a busy summer window.
Petrovic will join Bournemouth’s pre-season training shortly and is expected to be available for their opening fixtures. The move offers the Serbian shot-stopper the opportunity to become a key figure in a team looking to climb the table and establish itself firmly in the top half.
