NEWCASTLE SEAL ANTHONY ELANGA DEAL AS NOTTINGHAM FOREST BLOCK MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE'S TOTTENHAM MOVE
Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest, wrapping up a swift deal despite late efforts by Forest to delay or block the transfer amid tensions over Morgan Gibbs-White’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Elanga, 23, joins the Magpies after just one season at the City Ground, where he impressed with his pace, directness, and end product from wide positions. Newcastle had been monitoring the Swedish international throughout the second half of last season and moved quickly to secure his services as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
The deal was finalized following advanced talks earlier this week, with Elanga set to compete for a starting role on the wing under Eddie Howe. His arrival adds energy and depth to a squad preparing for both domestic and European competition.
Meanwhile, tensions reportedly flared between the two clubs as Forest sought to stall Elanga’s exit amid frustration over Tottenham’s pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White. Forest are reluctant to lose two of their most marketable assets in the same window and had hoped to negotiate Gibbs-White’s future before sanctioning Elanga’s departure.
However, Newcastle remained firm in their push for the Swedish forward and successfully concluded the deal, viewing him as a long-term investment with Premier League experience and room to grow.
