Wednesday's papers put Aston Villa at the front of the queue for a loan move that would have sounded far-fetched eighteen months ago. Endrick, 20, has not convinced Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, and Villa are reported to be ready to take him for the rest of the season. Cadena SER has the story.
Whether Madrid want to send a forward they bought as a long-term project to the Premier League for half a year is the question nobody has answered yet. What is clear is that a loan is being discussed rather than a sale.
Cherki, and the clubs waiting for a crack
Manchester City have not put Rayan Cherki on the market. Paris St-Germain and Liverpool are watching anyway, in case the 23-year-old France midfielder becomes available, according to Teamtalk. That is the kind of item that tends to grow legs if City's season goes badly.
Bournemouth are in the opposite position with Alex Scott. Talksport reports they have no intention of selling the 23-year-old England midfielder in January despite interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid, while 4-4-2.ch says Madrid have already scouted him at least three times and that Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan are also keen. January refusals have a habit of becoming summer negotiations.
Teenagers, and a tug of war at Old Trafford
The JJ Gabriel situation keeps moving. Real Madrid and Barcelona are ready to put a substantial salary, bonuses and a signing-on fee in front of the Manchester United attacking midfielder, according to Florian Plettenberg, while the Times reports Bayern Munich are still interested but will not meet the seven-figure salary his camp is asking for. Sky Sports News reported on Wednesday that he turned 16 on Tuesday, the age at which a European club can sign him to a professional contract.
Elsewhere in the youth market, Arsenal are said by Teamtalk to be serious contenders for Gilberto Mora, the 17-year-old Mexican attacking midfielder at Club Tijuana. Newcastle are monitoring Ajax's 19-year-old Dutch defender Aaron Bouwman ahead of the next two windows, says the Newcastle Chronicle.
Contracts running down
Antonio Rudiger looks likely to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, with Sports Mole reporting there are no plans to offer the 33-year-old Germany defender a new deal. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are keeping an eye on Nick Pope, whose Newcastle contract runs out next summer. The goalkeeper is 34, which tells you something about how Bayern are approaching that position in the short term.
And Tottenham will go looking for a striker in January, though Football Insider suggests the budget will not stretch far. That one feels less like a scoop and more like a description of every January window Spurs have had in recent memory.
