Swansea City stayed top of the Championship on Saturday by coming from a goal down to beat Norwich City 2-1. Moussa Yeo and Adam Idah scored inside the first quarter of an hour of the second half, and the man who got the winner did it against the club where he spent seven years.

It was a sixth win from nine games for Swansea, who now have 20 points. Norwich sit 17th with nine, and have lost three in a row.

Norwich strike first, again

For a while Swansea had the ball without hurting anyone. Norwich, missing top scorer Mo Toure and captain Kenny McLean, sat deep and waited for a mistake. It arrived when Swansea overplayed, Oscar Schwartau found Jacob Wright and Wright finished neatly. It was his first Championship start of the campaign.

Idah missed chances before the break and Vladan Kovacevic was good when called upon. Swansea could not get through, though the hosts kept finding space wide.

Two goals in ten minutes after the restart

The hosts changed the game after half-time. On 49 minutes Josh Tymon delivered a ball in, and Yeo took his time before slotting home to level. It was Yeo's third goal in three consecutive appearances.

Ten minutes later Idah timed his run perfectly to meet Melker Widell's cross and glance in the winner. It was a pointed goal. Idah left Norwich in 2024 after seven years. When he went off with a knock, Zan Vipotnik, last season's Championship top scorer, took his place, and Swansea held on with little drama. Lawrence Vigouroux stopped a Sam Field shot on an otherwise quiet afternoon.

What it means

Philippe Clement's Norwich will want to end a worrying pattern: they have now lost three in a row despite opening the scoring in each of them. They host Southampton in midweek. The confidence seemed to drain from the visitors the moment Swansea levelled, and their attacking changes asked few questions.

Swansea's squad depth showed. They were without Stefen Eustaquio and kept World Cup pair Marko Stamenic and Elijah Just on the bench, while Goncalo Franco impressed on his first start of the season. Scotland international Ross Stewart was fit again to make the bench. John Toshack, who took the Swans to the top of the old First Division 45 years ago, was guest of honour. Matos's side go to Millwall on Tuesday and host West Ham next weekend, and those two games will say a lot more about whether this run is real.
