Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Andrew Robertson from Liverpool this summer, with reports emerging that a verbal agreement is already in place between the Scottish left-back and the north London club — though one crucial condition remains that could yet derail the deal entirely.

The Verbal Agreement

According to Fabrizio Romano, all the key terms have been agreed between Robertson and Tottenham, with the player understood to be open to the move. Liverpool have already confirmed internally that Robertson will be leaving the club at the end of the season, ending what has been a decorated chapter at Anfield that included Premier League and Champions League title glory.

The deal, however, is conditional. Robertson has made clear that his move to Spurs will only go ahead if Tottenham avoid relegation from the Premier League. With Spurs in genuine danger this season, that caveat gives the entire situation a dramatic edge — the transfer now serving as yet another reason for the club to drag themselves clear of the drop zone.

Liverpool Confirm Robertson's Exit

Robertson's time at Liverpool has spanned nearly a decade and established him as one of the finest left-backs in Premier League history. His overlapping runs, his delivery from wide areas, and his leadership on the pitch have been central to some of Liverpool's most successful seasons in the modern era.

Liverpool's decision to allow him to leave is a sign of the times — the club evolving, bringing through the next generation, and trusting that the squad depth they have built can absorb the change. Robertson has served them with distinction, but his time there is coming to its natural conclusion.

Competition From Europe

Tottenham are not the only club interested. Juventus, Napoli and Atletico Madrid have all been credited with interest in the Scotland captain. Robertson remains a quality operator at this level — experienced, reliable, and still capable of influencing games — and clubs across Europe recognise that value.

But the verbal agreement with Spurs gives the English club the advantage in negotiations for now. If Tottenham can secure their Premier League status, they will be well-placed to finalise the move officially over the summer.

What It Means for Both Clubs

For Tottenham, signing Robertson would represent a statement of intent — a proven Premier League performer who brings leadership and experience to a squad that has at times felt short of both this season. His arrival could stabilise their left side considerably.

For Liverpool, the chapter closes on a player who gave everything for the badge. Robertson leaves with his reputation entirely intact — a champion, a leader, and one of the best to have played in his position in the club's recent history.
