From Germany to Spain: How Real Plan to Replace a Legend

MADRID'S MODRIĆ SUCCESSION PLAN IN MOTION! SCOUTS DISPATCHED TO TRACK 20-YEAR-OLD GERMANY-BASED MIDFIELD PRODIGY

Real Madrid are already preparing for a future without Luka Modrić, and reports suggest that Eintracht Frankfurt’s rising star, Hugo Larsson, has caught the attention of the club’s recruitment team.

With Modrić entering the twilight of his extraordinary career, the Madrid hierarchy has made it a priority to secure a midfielder who can eventually take over his creative mantle. The Croatian playmaker, who has helped lead Los Blancos to multiple Champions League and La Liga titles since arriving in 2012, is expected to part ways with the club soon, leaving a massive void in the heart of midfield.

Real Madrid scouts have reportedly been tracking 20-year-old Larsson throughout the 2024–25 Bundesliga campaign. The Swedish international has emerged as a key figure for Eintracht Frankfurt, impressing with his tactical intelligence, ball control, and composure under pressure. Despite his age, Larsson has consistently displayed maturity well beyond his years, anchoring midfield play and showing flashes of leadership on the pitch.

Larsson joined Frankfurt from Malmö FF in 2023 and has since made rapid strides in Germany's top flight. His playing style blends technical grace with physical strength—an ideal combination for a central midfielder in modern European football. It’s no surprise that Madrid are viewing him as a potential long-term project, one who could develop alongside Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde.

Though Real Madrid have not made a formal approach yet, the level of scouting interest suggests they may move swiftly if Modrić confirms his departure this summer or next. With Modrić's contract nearing its end and no renewal confirmed, the club is being proactive in identifying young talent who could maintain their high standards in midfield.

Frankfurt, for their part, are aware of growing interest across Europe in Larsson and will likely demand a significant fee. The Swedish midfielder is under contract through 2028, which gives the German club negotiating leverage. However, the prestige and pull of a club like Real Madrid can often influence a player’s trajectory—and Larsson is believed to be open to a move to an elite club when the right opportunity arises.

As the transfer window approaches, expect Larsson’s name to feature more prominently in transfer talks—not just around Madrid, but among other top clubs in search of intelligent, composed midfielders with room to grow.
