Wolves forward Fábio Silva completes Dortmund move

FABIO SILVA LEAVES WOLVES FOR GERMAN SIDE BORUSSIA DORTMUND

The Portuguese striker, who arrived from Porto in 2020 for a then-club-record £35m fee, departs having struggled to consistently make an impact in the Premier League. While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, reports suggest Wolves had been seeking offers in excess of £17m.

Still only 23, Silva’s spell in the West Midlands yielded 73 appearances and five goals, but much of his development took place away from Wolves during a series of loan spells. The forward turned out for Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, Rangers and Las Palmas, gaining experience across Europe but never managing to cement himself as a first-choice striker back at Molineux.

Wolves head coach Vítor Pereira addressed the striker’s departure in his pre-match press conference, confirming that Silva had made it clear he wanted a fresh start elsewhere:

“Fabio Silva was a player that, from the beginning, we knew would move on because he didn’t want to remain here. He didn’t feel comfortable at the club. For me, it is important to work with players who are fully committed to Wolves and what we are building.”

Silva’s exit marks the end of a chapter that began with high expectations, as he was viewed as one of Portugal’s brightest attacking prospects when Wolves secured his signature. His departure also continues a summer of change at Molineux, with Pereira reshaping his squad around players he believes fit the long-term project.
