DERBY COUNTY SIGN BLACKBURN MIDFIELDER LEWIS TRAVIS FOR UNDISCLOSED FEE
Derby County have completed the signing of Lewis Travis, with the midfielder putting pen to paper on a four-year deal and taking the number 27 shirt at Pride Park.
The 27-year-old becomes the Rams’ 11th addition of the summer transfer window, linking up once again with manager John Eustace, who he previously worked under at Blackburn Rovers.
Speaking to the club’s website, Travis praised his new boss:
“He’s a really honest manager, which can be tough to find. I love the way he plays — very intense, very clear with his methods. After speaking with him and seeing the ambition of the club, the new players, and the facilities, I knew this was the right move. I can’t wait to play in front of the Pride Park fans.”
A product of the Rovers academy, Travis made 273 appearances for Blackburn and was named club captain in 2022. He played a key role in their 2017–18 promotion season and later enjoyed a short loan at Ipswich Town in 2024.
Although he started Blackburn’s Championship opener against West Brom earlier this month, head coach Valérien Ismaël confirmed soon after that Travis had asked to move on. He is now in line to make his Rams debut on Saturday away to Ipswich, the club where he briefly spent time on loan.
In a heartfelt farewell message to Rovers supporters, Travis reflected on more than a decade at Ewood Park:
“Never did I think when I first signed at 17 that I’d go on to make over 250 appearances and captain the side. There have been highs and lows, but the memories will stay with me forever. To have the honour of leading the team is something I’ll always be proud of. It’s time for a new chapter, but Rovers will always hold a special place in my heart.”
