City Breakthrough: Verbal Agreement Reached for €100m Wirtz Deal

MAN CITY STRIKE €100M WIRTZ AGREEMENT! BAYERN MUNICH REMAIN IN DRIVER'S SEAT DESPITE FEE HIKE AS REAL MADRID PULL BACK

Manchester City have reportedly taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, reaching a broad agreement in principle over a potential €100 million move. However, despite City’s progress, Bayern Munich continue to hold the upper hand in the race for the German playmaker, even as the transfer fee rises and Real Madrid begin to cool their interest.

City Make Their Move

With Pep Guardiola seeking to inject new creativity into his squad, Wirtz has emerged as one of Manchester City's top targets. The 21-year-old has been in stellar form for Leverkusen, helping guide them to a historic unbeaten domestic campaign. His intelligence, vision, and maturity on the ball have drawn admiration from across Europe.

Manchester City are believed to have reached a general understanding regarding the financial framework of a deal worth around €100 million. The club is now waiting for the green light from Leverkusen and the player himself to proceed.

Bayern Munich Still Hold the Cards

Despite City’s early breakthrough, Bayern Munich are still considered favourites to land Wirtz — if and when he becomes available. The Bundesliga giants have long-standing ties with Leverkusen and Wirtz’s representatives, and there is a belief within Germany that the attacking midfielder could be Bayern-bound once Leverkusen are ready to sell.

Leverkusen, however, are in no rush to lose their star, especially after such a dominant season. They are expected to demand top value — possibly even more than €100 million — particularly from non-German clubs.

Real Madrid Step Back, For Now

Real Madrid had previously shown strong interest in Wirtz, viewing him as a potential long-term successor in their midfield. But with other priorities taking shape — including their pursuit of Kylian Mbappé and other attacking options — Madrid are believed to have cooled their interest for the time being.

This has narrowed the competition, putting City and Bayern in direct contention for the German international.
