A dramatic late equaliser from Kieran Dewsbury-Hall ensured Everton left Griffin Park with a point, cancelling out what had looked like a match-winning second goal from Igor Thiago to earn a 2-2 draw that left both sides frustrated and relieved in equal measure.

Thiago Penalty Opens the Scoring

It took just three minutes for the deadlock to be broken. A foul inside the box handed Brentford the perfect start, and Igor Thiago stepped up to convert from the spot with the composure of a seasoned striker. The Portuguese forward has been one of the Bees' brightest performers this season, and his penalty was drilled low and hard past the goalkeeper — no chance for the keeper.

Everton struggled to find their rhythm in the opening exchanges, pressed high off the ball and unable to build any sustained period of possession in the final third. The Toffees looked nervy and disorganised, which only played into Brentford's hands as the home side looked comfortable and organised.

Beto Draws Everton Level

The visitors pulled themselves back into the contest just before the half hour mark. Beto, a physical presence throughout, rose to meet a well-delivered cross and powered a header beyond the Brentford stopper in the 26th minute. It was exactly the kind of goal Everton needed — direct, purposeful, and built on the simplest of principles.

The goal visibly lifted Everton and they went into the break on level terms, the momentum having shifted noticeably in their favour during the final quarter of the first half. Brentford needed to regroup at the interval.

Thiago Puts Brentford Back Ahead

The second half began with both sides probing cautiously, neither willing to leave themselves exposed. But it was Brentford who struck first after the break. Igor Thiago grabbed his second of the afternoon on 76 minutes, finishing smartly to restore the home side's advantage and seemingly set them on course for three points.

Thomas Frank's side looked disciplined and resolute as the clock ticked down, with the Everton attacks growing increasingly desperate. But football has a habit of twisting in the most theatrical fashion.

Dewsbury-Hall Breaks Brentford Hearts

Into the first minute of added time, Everton conjured the equaliser their persistence arguably deserved. Kieran Dewsbury-Hall — on a loan spell that has given the Toffees genuine quality in midfield — stabbed home from close range to make it 2-2. The away end erupted. The Brentford supporters were silenced.

It was a gut-punch for a Brentford side who had done enough for long periods to win the game. For Everton, who have been battling difficulties of their own this season, a point on the road felt like a small victory.

What It Means

The draw leaves Brentford in a precarious position in terms of their aspirations for a top-half finish. The points are there to be earned but moments like this — leads squandered in stoppage time — are what ultimately cost teams come the end of the season.

Everton, meanwhile, will take the point and move on. Sean Dyche's side are not yet entirely safe from any lingering concerns and every point matters in a campaign that has often felt like a battle for stability rather than ambition.
