Spurs ramp up efforts to sign Eze

TOTTENHAM SET TO SPEED UP MOVE FOR CRYSTAL PALACE STAR EBERECHI EZE WITH TALKS TO ADVANCE IN NEXT 48 HOURS

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to intensify their bid for Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, with negotiations expected to advance over the next 48 hours as optimism grows around a potential agreement.

Spurs have been in talks with Palace since the start of the week and now believe they are edging closer to a breakthrough. The 27-year-old England international, who has been one of Palace’s standout performers in recent years, is viewed as a priority signing by manager Thomas Frank, who is keen to reshape his attack following a string of setbacks.

Eze’s release clause—previously set at £60m plus £8m in add-ons—is no longer active, giving Spurs room to negotiate a fee below the original valuation. Palace, however, remain firm in their stance that any sale must reflect the player’s importance, with the club simultaneously weighing up a potential big-money exit for captain Marc Guehi, who is on Liverpool’s radar.

Palace face Chelsea this weekend, but there are growing doubts about whether Eze will be named in the squad. His omission could serve as a strong signal that a deal with Tottenham is imminent.

For Spurs, the pursuit of Eze has become more urgent after James Maddison was ruled out long term with a serious knee injury, while Dejan Kulusevski also continues his recovery. The recent departure of club legend Son Heung-min, who left after a decade and nearly 200 goals, has left a significant void in their attack.

Eze, who is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2027, has developed into one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking midfielders. He scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, including a memorable winner against Manchester City in the FA Cup final that secured Palace’s historic triumph.

Since joining from QPR for £19.5m in 2020, he has made 168 appearances, scoring 40 times and establishing himself as a key figure for both club and country.

Palace are already drawing up contingency plans should they lose their star man, with Leicester’s Bilal El Khannouss among the names being considered.

For Tottenham, landing Eze would represent not only a major coup but also a statement of ambition as they aim to compete on all fronts this season.
