A goalkeeper's careless pass, a striker who cannot stop scoring and a stoppage-time finish from a substitute: that was Bournemouth's afternoon against Leeds. Evanilson and Amine Adli got the goals in a 2-0 win at the Vitality Stadium, and Marco Rose's side have now won six in a row in all competitions without conceding.
It was not a polished performance. For a while Leeds were the better team, and they could easily have been in front.
The goal that wasn't
Dominic Calvert-Lewin thought he had given Leeds the lead inside the first 11 minutes, bundling in a James Justin cross. A long VAR check followed and the replays showed the ball had hit his hand on the way in. Not long after, Harry Wilson drifted in from the right and his low effort trickled just wide of the near post.
Bournemouth, by contrast, had little to show for the opening half hour beyond a couple of long-range efforts from Ryan Christie and Adrien Truffert.
Trafford's pass, Evanilson's finish
The breakthrough came from nowhere. Tarik Muharemovic played a goal-kick back to James Trafford, who then tried to find Ao Tanaka and sold him short. Justin Kluivert read it, stole in and squared for Evanilson to score about 14 minutes before the break. It was the Brazilian's fifth goal of the season and his fourth in as many league games, after strikes against Chelsea, Sunderland and Manchester United.
Chances dried up after the restart. Marcus Tavernier's low free-kick in the 65th minute drew a good save from Trafford, but little else threatened until stoppage time, when Junior Kroupi slipped in Adli and the substitute finished from close range.
Where it leaves both sides
Rose has had a fortnight to remember, with the 3-0 win over AC Milan followed by victories over United, Villa and now Leeds. Evanilson, the club-record signing from Porto in 2024, has eight goal contributions this term, one more than he managed in the whole of last season.
Leeds stay ninth, but they are now winless in five league games and have lost only twice all season. Daniel Farke's team had been among the stingiest defences in the division before this weekend, which makes a single lapse from Trafford all the harder to take.
Match facts: Bournemouth 2-0 Leeds United, Premier League, Vitality Stadium, Saturday 31 October 2026. Goals: Evanilson (about 14 minutes before half-time), Amine Adli 94'.
