EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle submit £70m offer for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Šeško

NEWCASTLE LAUNCH £70M SESKO BOMBSHELL! MAGPIES SUBMIT OFFER AFTER MAN UTD REJECTION - FULL 'PACKAGE' PRESENTED

Newcastle United have made a major move in the race to sign Benjamin Šeško, submitting a bid worth £70 million (€80 million) including add-ons for the RB Leipzig striker. The Slovenian forward has been a top target for several elite clubs this summer, with Manchester United also strongly interested. However, Newcastle’s latest offer may have pushed them ahead in the pursuit.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the most in-demand young centre-forwards in Europe after a strong season in the Bundesliga. Šeško’s blend of pace, aerial dominance, and composed finishing has drawn attention across the continent, with scouts long viewing him as a potential elite-level striker.

Newcastle’s bid signals both intent and urgency as they look to reshape their forward line. The club is seeking a long-term number nine to lead the line in the Premier League and Europe, and Šeško is seen as a natural successor to Callum Wilson and complement to Alexander Isak. Crucially, the Magpies are believed to have structured the bid to include bonuses tied to appearances and team success, giving Leipzig an incentive to accept.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have been tracking Šeško for over a year and had been expected to make a move of their own. But the club’s summer transfer strategy has slowed as they focus on offloading players and managing Financial Fair Play constraints. While still very much interested, they risk falling behind unless they respond swiftly to Newcastle’s offer.

RB Leipzig are considering their options, with internal discussions underway about whether to cash in this summer or retain the player for another season. Šeško’s contract reportedly includes a release clause that becomes active in 2026, so Leipzig may choose to sell now while his value is high.

From the player’s side, Šeško is reportedly open to a Premier League switch and intrigued by both projects. Newcastle’s ability to offer Champions League or Europa-level football next season could prove pivotal, especially if Manchester United cannot guarantee immediate top-tier European competition.

If Newcastle’s bid is accepted, negotiations over personal terms are expected to progress quickly. The club is prepared to make Šeško one of their marquee signings of the summer and a key figure in their long-term vision
