Saliba chase continues as Real plan Arsenal talks

REAL MADRID REFUSE TO SURRENDER IN SALIBA PURSUIT! LOS BLANCOS ASSEMBLE DELEGATION TO CONVINCE ARSENAL

Real Madrid are reportedly intensifying their interest in William Saliba, as the Spanish giants prepare to send a delegation to London in an effort to open formal negotiations with Arsenal for the highly-rated French defender.

The renewed push comes in the wake of growing concerns over Madrid’s defensive depth — concerns that were only amplified after a shaky performance against Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey during the recent Club World Cup. With questions emerging over the reliability of the current backline, manager Xabi Alonso is believed to have shifted his focus squarely onto defensive reinforcements.

Saliba, 24, has been a standout performer for Arsenal since his breakthrough season and has cemented his status as one of the Premier League's elite centre-backs. His calmness under pressure, athleticism, and ability to play out from the back make him a natural fit for Madrid’s tactical profile — especially with the long-term future of veterans like David Alaba and Nacho in doubt.

Real Madrid have long admired Saliba, but prying him away from Arsenal will be no small task. The Frenchman is seen as untouchable by Mikel Arteta’s camp, and the club have already tied him down to a long-term contract until 2027, with no release clause included.

Nonetheless, Madrid are prepared to test Arsenal’s resolve with a significant offer and are hoping that their prestige — combined with the appeal of competing for Champions League titles — might persuade Saliba to consider a new challenge in La Liga.

The Spanish giants are also navigating uncertainty surrounding Éder Militão’s recovery and Antonio Rüdiger’s workload, further adding urgency to the situation. With Xabi Alonso looking to establish a younger and more modern defensive core, Saliba is viewed as the perfect cornerstone to build around for years to come.

While Arsenal have made it clear they intend to keep their defensive lynchpin, a formal approach from Madrid could set the stage for one of the summer's biggest transfer battles.
