EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd reconsider Højlund future as Italian giants circle

MAN UTD SOFTEN HOJLUND STANCE! SERIE A TRIO MILAN, INTER & JUVENTUS ALERTED TO POSSIBLE SUMMER EXIT

Manchester United have reportedly softened their stance on the future of Rasmus Højlund, opening the door to a potential exit just one year after signing the Danish striker in a high-profile move from Atalanta.

This shift in position has reignited interest from AC Milan, Inter, and Juventus, all of whom are now keeping close tabs on the situation as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the 2025/26 campaign.

Højlund arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations, but the 21-year-old has endured a mixed spell in the Premier League. While he’s shown flashes of his immense potential — including pace, strength, and intelligent movement — his inconsistency in front of goal and difficulty adapting to the physical demands of English football have raised questions about his long-term fit in Ruben Amorim’s evolving squad.

Initially, United had no intention of selling the striker, viewing him as a core part of their future project. However, with the club needing to balance its books amid Financial Fair Play concerns — and a major squad overhaul underway — the door is now open for a potential sale or loan, provided the right offer comes in.

The change in tone has been noted in Italy, where Milan, Inter, and Juve have all held a long-standing admiration for Højlund. All three clubs are exploring attacking reinforcements this summer, and the prospect of bringing the young forward back to Serie A — a league where he previously thrived — is gaining traction.

For Højlund, a return to Italy could offer the chance to rediscover his confidence and re-establish himself as one of Europe’s most promising strikers. At 21, his ceiling remains high, and a more tactical, technical league could better suit his current development needs.

At this stage, no formal offers have been submitted, but discussions are expected to ramp up in the coming weeks as United assess interest and the player’s own preferences. Whether through a permanent sale or a season-long loan with a buy option, the striker’s future now appears far less certain than it did just months ago.
