NEWCASTLE UNITED HAVE ACQUIRED WILLIAM OSULA, A DENMARK UNDER-21 STRIKER, FROM SHEFFIELD UNITED
The 21-year-old forward has signed with Newcastle United for a reported fee of £15 million. This move comes after he scored three goals in 31 senior appearances for Sheffield United, known as the Blades. Last season, despite making 21 Premier League appearances under Chris Wilder's management, the team faced relegation to the Championship.
Osula, who has also represented Denmark U21 five times, expressed his enthusiasm about joining Newcastle, saying, "It's a big club, a great club, so I'm very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United. It's a tremendous chance, and as soon as I heard of Newcastle's interest, I knew I had to seize the opportunity to be part of this club if it was offered."
Newcastle United's manager, Eddie Howe, shared that the club has been tracking Osula's progress for the past three years. This interest was sparked by a recommendation from assistant manager Jason Tindall, who worked at Sheffield United in 2021 as part of Paul Heckingbottom's backroom staff. Howe noted, "I've been aware of him since JT's [Jason Tindall's] time at Sheffield United. We've been following his development for three years, and he genuinely excites us. He possesses all the raw qualities needed to become a top centre-forward."
With Osula’s addition, Newcastle United’s summer recruitment drive now includes six new signings. Alongside Osula, the club has also brought in Miodrag Pivas, Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy, Lloyd Kelly, and Lewis Hall, bolstering their squad ahead of the new season.
